Fulham Palace Trust has been awarded £571,000 from Arts Council England’s Museum Renewal Fund, part of a national programme aimed at strengthening the financial and operational stability of museums linked to local authorities. The funding is intended to help the Trust address revenue shortfalls and maintain public access to its heritage, cultural, and educational programmes.

The grant will support Fulham Palace Trust in preserving service levels, investing in business systems, and sustaining its commitment to keeping the historic house and gardens free to enter. The funding comes at a time when many civic museums are facing increased financial pressures, with rising costs and reduced income threatening programming, staffing, and opening hours.

Established in 2011, Fulham Palace Trust is responsible for the conservation and interpretation of the Fulham Palace site, which includes centuries-old buildings, gardens, and collections. The Trust delivers exhibitions, outreach programmes, and learning initiatives that connect visitors with local history, archaeology, and horticulture. The Palace itself has a documented history spanning over 6,000 years and was formerly the residence of the Bishops of London.

The Museum Renewal Fund is part of Arts Council England’s broader strategy to support museums deemed most at risk of service reductions. The 2025–26 funding round targets institutions with governance links to local authorities and aims to safeguard public benefit by enabling museums to manage operational pressures and build long-term resilience.

Fulham Palace Trust Chief Executive Sian Harrington welcomed the grant, describing it as a stabilising measure during a period of financial uncertainty. The funding is expected to help the Trust continue its work without interruption and maintain its role as a cultural and educational resource for the borough of Hammersmith and Fulham and beyond.
