Fulham Palace will host its annual Chilli Fest on Sunday 14 September, offering a showcase of international chilli varieties, horticultural displays, and community-led activities. The event will take place in the historic walled garden from 11am to 3pm.

Organised by the Fulham Palace Meadows Allotments Association in collaboration with the Fulham Horticultural Society, the festival will feature over 30 types of chillies from around the world. Tasting tables will include mild varieties such as Lipstick and Ethiopian Berbere, medium heat options like Brazilian Chupetinho and Peruvian Aji Charapita, and extreme examples including the Venezuelan Tiger and Carolina Reaper, once recognised as the world’s hottest chilli.

A chilli-eating contest will return this year, limited to 12 participants who will attempt to progress through 12 escalating heat levels. According to organiser Theo Antipas, last year’s contestants did not surpass level nine.

In addition to food-focused activities, the event will include horticultural exhibitions, salsa demonstrations by Pexava Dance Company, and a talk by botanist Dr Mark Spencer. Locally grown produce and chilli-based products will be available at stalls, alongside contributions from regional producers.
