A new community wellness project has launched in Parsons Green, offering residents a low-pressure way to improve physical health and disconnect from digital routines. The initiative, known as the Parsons Green Stretch Club, provides outdoor Sunday morning sessions that focus on gentle movement and fresh air. It was established by Olga Regina, a creative professional, and Maria Saukhina, a movement and aerial artist, in response to the physical strains of modern office-based work and the fast-paced nature of London life.
The founders observed that many Londoners spend prolonged periods at computers and often find traditional fitness environments to be either too expensive or overly focused on performance. To ensure the sessions remain accessible to the local community, the first class for new participants is priced at two pounds. Groups are intentionally kept small, with a limit of around ten people, to maintain a calm and welcoming environment that prioritises community over intensity.
Regina noted that individuals often spend entire days moving between screens and projects, making it easy to become disconnected from physical well-being. Saukhina added that many people do not necessarily require intense exercise, but rather benefit from simple movement and green spaces as a way to step away from technology. The project is run independently, and contributions from bookings are used to support future community sessions and the founders' ongoing artistic practices.
Both founders have backgrounds in the arts that inform the project, with Regina having recently exhibited work on the emotional rhythms of urban life and Saukhina developing a performance piece exploring the human body. The wellness sessions are seen as a practical extension of these creative interests, aiming to bring body awareness into everyday life. Participants receive specific location details through a private messaging group after booking their place for the weekly sessions.
