Residents are being invited to help shape a major overhaul of the playground at Normand Park, as Hammersmith & Fulham Council begins the next stage of its borough-wide Playground Transformation Programme.

Normand Park, one of the largest green spaces in the centre of the borough, sits a short walk from both West Kensington and West Brompton stations. The park is heavily used throughout the year and is home to an outdoor gym, a quiet garden, open recreational space and a large playground that includes skate ramps and a multi-use sports pitch.

Many of the existing play features are now reaching the end of their practical life, prompting the council to prioritise the site for investment between 2025 and 2028. The first phase of the project is now underway, with the council asking residents and park users for their views on how the play area should be improved.

The current playground includes climbing walls, a recreation zone for skating, basketball, table tennis and football, and separate play areas for children under eight and those over eight. The council says it wants to understand how families use the space today and what changes would make it more welcoming, accessible and imaginative for children of all ages.

The consultation survey is open until 5pm on 9 March. Once responses have been analysed, a second survey will be published to help narrow down residents’ ideas into a detailed works programme. The final plans will be shared on the council’s consultation hub, with construction expected to be completed in summer 2026.

The Normand Park project forms part of H&F’s wider Playground Transformation Programme, a multi-year investment designed to modernise play spaces across the borough. Recent upgrades in other parks have included new equipment, improved safety surfacing and more inclusive designs aimed at supporting active play and social interaction.

Residents who need help completing the survey, or who require the information in another language or accessible format, can contact the parks team at parks.projects@lbhf.gov.uk.

The survey is available online at the council’s consultation portal.
