One of Kings Road's most iconic restaurants, Chutney Mary has closed its doors to be replaced by a more informal Masala Grill.

The Indian restaurant, which had a reputation for good food but also for high prices is moving  to St James, where its owners the MW Eat Group says it will retain all the key features which made it a landmark restaurant.

In its place, at 353 Kings Road on the borders of Fulham and Chelsea, is the Masala Grill, described as a new stylish informal restaurant.

The MW Eat Group say: " Masala Grill will serve a range of delicious grills, exciting street food, seafood as well as some well chosen curries.

"We hope to open Masala Grill in late March 2015."

The MW Eat Group also own the Masala Zone chain. In 2010 it opened a branch of this chain on Fulham Broadway, but it was not successul and closed three years later. However, there are still eight restaurants in the chain, including one in Earls Court.
