The new KFC will be at the former Halifax branch on Fulham Broadway
October 13, 2025
Hammersmith & Fulham Council has given the thumbs up to proposals by fast food giant KFC to move into Fulham Broadway.
As we revealed in August, the KFC is considering taking over Fulham Broadway shopping centre’s Unit 1, the site vacated by Halifax in May this year.
Though there is already a small branch of KFC in North End Road, a proposed floorplan envisages a much larger, two floor restaurant with seating for 92 diners.
RPS Consulting applied on behalf of KFC for change of use of the site’s lower ground and ground floor level from retail bank to a restaurant.
Documents supporting the application claimed that planning permission was not required as both the former bank and the proposed restaurant fall within the same Class E category, and instead the request was for the grant of a Certificate of Lawfulness of Proposed Use or Development confirming the proposed restaurant use of the premises.
H&F Council planning department has now granted this certificate, clearing the way for the chicken chain to act on its proposals.
You can see the application and supporting documents, including the letter granting the certificate, on H&F Council’s website using reference 2025/01918/CLP.
In documents supporting KFC’s application, architect Hone Edwards Associates, which produced the floorplan set alongside the familiar KFC logo, said that at this stage the plans were for discussion only.
However, KFC announced this summer it was planning to invest an astonishing £1.5 billion opening 500 new restaurants across the UK and Ireland, at key locations including stations and shopping centres. It is backing this up with a site dedicated to finding new locations.
If these proposals go ahead KFC will become the latest in a string of fast food outlets on Fulham Broadway, including recent arrival Wendy Burgers, Five Guys, Taco Bell and fish and chip restaurant Fishy Delishy. The site is also next door to Wetherspoon’s recently opened Walham Green pub.
