The Kokodoo fried chicken chain was founded by Mary Yoon
August 4, 2025
Korean fried chicken chain Kokodoo is launching a “flagship” restaurant, offering both eat-in and takeaway options, at 8 Fulham Broadway, premises formerly housing Sia Hair & Beauty.
The small chain, launched on food trucks in 2016 by Joseph and Mary Yoon, is a former winner at the British Street Food Awards which began expanding into new locations across London in 2022.
The restaurant promises a simple menu of chicken, burgers and wings with a range of sauces, from the very mild sweet and spicy Gochujang glaze to fiery chilli.
Kokodoo has applied to Hammersmith & Fulham Council for permission to install a new shopfront and awning, which it hopes to complete during September. You can see this application on the council website using the reference 2025/02027/FUL.
The restaurant’s launch will come during a busy autumn on the west side of Fulham Broadway, with the new M&S Foodhall also due to open in neighbouring premises.

Around the corner at Fulham Broadway shopping centre’s Unit 1, fast food giant KFC is considering taking over the site recently vacated by Halifax.
RPS Consulting has applied on behalf of KFC for change of use of the site’s lower ground and ground floor level from retail bank to a restaurant.

Documents supporting the application claim that planning permission is not required as both the former bank and the proposed restaurant fall within the same Class E category, and instead the request is for the grant of a Certificate of Lawfulness of Proposed Use or Development confirming the proposed restaurant use of the premises.
Though there is already a small branch of KFC in North End Road, a proposed floorplan envisages a much larger, two floor restaurant with seating for 92 diners. However, architect Hone Edwards Associates, which produced the floorplan set alongside the familiar KFC logo, says at this stage it is for discussion only.
You can see this application, currently open for comments, and supporting documents on H&F Council’s website using reference 2025/01918/CLP.
If this scheme goes ahead it will become the latest in a string of fast food outlets on Fulham Broadway, including recent arrival Wendy Burgers, Fibe Guys, Taco Bell and fish and chip restaurant Fishy Delishy. The site is also next door to Wetherspoon’s recently opened Walham Green pub.
