Lucas Cloves running as part of his epic endeavour
October 13, 2025
A 24-year-old Fulham resident has completed an extraordinary challenge to raise funds and awareness for Alzheimer’s Society—running a full marathon every day for 50 consecutive days across London.
Lucas Cloves began his journey on 24 August, covering 42.2 kilometres daily before work, often seen pacing through Royal Parks including Battersea and Richmond. His final run took place on 11 October in Battersea Park, where he invited supporters to join him for a celebratory 5K.
Lucas set out to raise over £20,000 for Alzheimer’s Society, a cause he describes as deeply personal. “Both my grandmas were diagnosed with Alzheimer’s,” he said. “I’ve seen what dementia does—it slowly takes away memories and independence. It’s heartbreaking.”
Despite not being a professional athlete, Cloves committed to the challenge alongside his full-time job. “It’s the hardest thing I’ve ever done,” he added. “But I wanted to push my limits and fight for something that really matters.”
Alzheimer’s Society reports that dementia is the UK’s leading cause of death, with one in three people born today expected to develop the condition. Jade Smith, Senior Running Events Fundraising Manager at the charity, praised Cloves’ efforts: “Dementia devastates lives, but dementia won’t win. We need more people like Lucas to unite against it.”
Supporters can contribute to Lucas’s campaign via his JustGiving page and learn more about Alzheimer’s Society’s work at alzheimers.org.uk/beat-dementia.
