CYCLING 75 MILES...

... TO BEAT BLOOD CANCER On 1 April 2010, my son Jake was diagnosed with leukaemia. He was 20 years old. And suddenly the world went very dark indeed.    Even though he’s now in remission, 30,000 people every year in the UK get the same heart-stopping news. And go to that same dark place. That’s one person every 17 minutes. And I simply can’t just stand by and let that happen without trying to do something about it.  For the last two years, I’ve ridden the 52-mile London Bikeathon to raise as much money as possible for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research. In that time, some amazingly generous people have helped me raise more than £4,500.  But knowing the nightmare that engulfed my boy for so long – and the dreadful pain he endured while he fought both the illness and the effects of the treatment – means that I can do nothing less than continue to ride against this truly awful disease. And this year I’m going the extra mile – well an extra 23 miles actually – by taking on the 75-mile Box Hill Endurance challenge. It takes place on 16 September and includes part of the Olympic cycling route. And Box Hill. A walk in the park it ain’t…These are difficult and uncertain times, but if any of you can donate even just a few pounds by going to http://www.justgiving.com/PaulHigham3 I’d be very grateful. OR DONATE BY TEXT It's really easy to donate by text too. And it's free! Just use the code JMGH55 and add the amount, then text to 70070 Please help us fight back. Help us beat this insidious, brutal and heart-breaking disease. Thank you so much And please forward this email to anyone you think might want to help. The more people who know about it, the better!Paul Higham(Goldsmith Avenue, Acton)

Live marriage debate in Chiswick this Monday...

On Monday 30th April 2012 at Gunnersbury Baptist Church in Chiswick, there will be an exciting and relevant, free public debate on the subject of the Governments recent proposals to redefine marriage to incorporate same-sex couples. Two top-class speakers with differing opinions will discuss this very important topic.1) Adrian Trett is Chair of the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) + Liberal Democrats since the Coalition Government was formed, and the author of the original motion on Equal Marriage in the UK for Liberal Democrat Conference in 2010. His campaigning group has been working with our Liberal Democrat Ministers, in particular Lynne Featherstone MP to enable this issue to be brought on to the Government's agenda, now with the public consultation and hopefully for legislation to be passed by 2015 to enable equal marriage in the UK.2) Rev. David Robertson is the Pastor of St. Peters Free Church in Dundee. He is the Author of 'The Dawkins Letters' and regular conference speaker and debater for the Evangelical Christian Church. There will be a chance, during this debate for questions from the audience.Doors will open at 7.00 pm for a 7.30 pm start. Entrance to this debate is absolutely free although early arrival is recommended.Watch out for the formal publicity - fliers and posters!I hope you will support this important event,Many thanks,Laurence TruettDebate Coordinator

Live Kidney Donation - Please help increase awareness to save my mum and patients like her :)

Hello everyone,My mother has recently been diagnosed with end stage renal failure and is in need for a transplant. Last night I made a facebook page to try and increase awareness of live kidney donation in the hope of finding my mum a donor. I realise this is quite an unconventional approach but I have been overwhelmed by the response from my friends offering to be considered as donors and helping spread the word.I am not a regular user of Twitter but made an account today to try and spread the message even further than my Facebook network. As you can appreciate I will do anything to try and save my mum. So, I thought I would post the link on here too. We have lived in West London for about 30 years and mums renal team are based at Hammersmith Hospital. I was hoping that perhaps some of you might be willing to help increase awareness of live kidney donation by posting the FB page I have created for my mum on your own walls and Twitters (link below) or anywhere you can think of, in the hope of finding a donor for my mum and for patients like her. I think this is so important as not many people actually know they could be considered as donors and if they did, perhaps we could reduce the suffering people experience waiting for years on dialysis and save more lives. People don't realise that living with one kidney does not mean that life will be any different to what it would be with two.The link below takes you to the page I created if you are interested in helping out and I am contactable on http://www.facebook.com/TalulahDelilahhttp://www.facebook.com/pages/Help-find-a-living-kidney-donor-for-my-mum/345334168849821Thank you so much for taking time to read this.Natalia

Plans for Earls Court and Seagrave Road

The total area to be redeveloped is 77 acres (31 hectares). It will be the biggest building site in Europe and will take 15-20 years to complete. The inhabitants of the 750 dwellings to be demolished in the West Kensington and Gibbs Green estates have no idea when or how they will be re-housed. There is no schedule, no construction phasing, nothing. They are extremely worried. In addition they are sure that the size of the alternative accommodation that they might eventually be offered will be nothing like as generous as the current one, built to 70s council standards. And over £550K of EU money has just been spent upgrading the windows and bathrooms to "decent homes" standards. What a waste of OUR money! Various exhibition organisers have complained about the demolition of Earls Court 1 and 2: there is no alternative of this size, as Olympia is much smaller and will remain so, despite small works on that site.If you want to complain effectively about the size of this re-development, there is a way, by putting pressure on the candidates for election as Mayor of London in May 2012.Boris Johnson has a campaign website and he is conducting a "survey" to find out your opinions. Go to www.backboris2012.com/survey. The first question asks about local issues: "What is the most important issue you would like addressed in your local area?" and you can tick the box "Protecting green spaces". It continues: "If there was one thing you could change in your local area, what would that be?" and you can write in: "Stop the over-development of Hammersmith and Fulham in general, and protect the West Kensington/Gibbs Green estates in particular from demolition proposed in the Earls Court redevelopment". The last question asks whether you would "definitely" or "probably" vote for Boris or whether you would "definitely/probably" vote for Ken. You should choose "Probably Ken" and give him a fright... Please don't fill in any other questions as it detracts from your message. You are in the SW6 postcodes where he expects to get rock solid Conservative support. Disillusion him!

New book launch: Who was Jack the Stripper?

My second True Crime Story: Who was Jack the Stripper? will be launched at Abertillery Library sometime in March/April 2011. The book launch will coincide with a 1 hour drama/documentary to be aired throughout Britain and Europe focusing on Harold Jones, the killer of 2 school children in Abertillery, South Wales in 1921. (Google Harold Jones - The Welsh Killer, or Neil Milkins, or Jack the Stripper.)The documentary will be presented by television presenter and Kray Twins biographer Fred Dineage MBE and top British criminologist and criminal profiler Professor David Wilson. Jones was 15 when he murdered 8 year-old Freda Elsie Maud Burnell and 11 year-old Florence Irene Little in 1921. Jones was released from prison in 1941 having served 20 years for his crimes and owing to the turmoil of World War 11 he went off the police radar. During the times of the unsolved murders of 8 women in the Hammersmith district of London between 1959 and 1965, Jones lived in the Hammersmith district using various aliases. (He lived in Fulham, Putney and Hammersmith between 1947 and 1971 when he died.) Who was Jack the Stripper? examines the amazing links between Jones and the murdered women!Professor Bernard Knight who recovered and conducted the post mortems on all of Fred and Rosemary West's murder victims and "Taggart" creator Glenn Chandler have both read the manuscript for Who was Jack the Stripper? and have made positive comments on the amazing and startling coincidences linking Jones to the Hammersmith murders.Who was Jack the Stripper? is a follow up to Neil Milkins' top selling 2008 book: Every Mother's Nightmare - Abertillery in Mourning, which dealt in depth with the Harold Jones murders of Freda Burnell and Florence Little.Who was Jack the Stripper? will be distributed by:Neil Milkins, Rose Heyworth Press, 67 Arael View, Abertillery, Gwent NP13 1SU. Check Your Health Save Your Life - Free NHS Health Checks

Your local NHS is now making it easier for you to stay healthier for longer, by introducing free NHS Health Checks to six local pharmacies from Wednesday 8 September. The Health Check is available to everyone aged between 40 and 74 and can see if someone is at risk of developing serious health problems like heart disease, stroke, diabetes and kidney disease.During the quick 20 minute Health Check fully-trained pharmacists will ask questions about a person’s lifestyle, family history and current medication.  They will record a person’s weight, sex, height, blood pressure, glucose and cholesterol levels to get a result, which will be explained in full at the end of the check.  Everyone who takes the check will be given advice and information on improving their health.  Anyone who needs more specialist help will be referred to a GP, or a more appropriate NHS service.Dr David McCoy, NHS Hammersmith and Fulham Acting Director of Public Health, said: “In Hammersmith and Fulham around 13,500 residents are affected by heart disease, stroke, diabetes or kidney disease and sadly they account for 37% of deaths in the borough each year.  The good news is these health problems can be prevented, controlled, or even reversed, which is why we’ve introduced the free NHS Health Check at six community pharmacies.  “People who are overweight, smoke, have high blood pressure or cholesterol, and take little exercise are at greatest risk of developing the diseases Health Checks can diagnose. Even if you feel well it’s a good idea to be checked.  These common diseases and conditions often don’t have any obvious symptoms and are not picked up until it’s too late and that’s what we want to avoid.”You do not need an appointment to have a free NHS Health Check at one of the following six pharmacies:• Healthside Pharmacy, 90 Shepherds Bush Road. W6 7PD• Parmay Pharmacy, 122  - 124 North End Pharmacy. W14 9PP• Bush Pharmacy, 334 Uxbridge Road. W12 7LL• Westway Pharmacy, 11 Westway. W12 0PT• Fulham Pharmacy, 608 Fulham Road. SW6 5RP• Boots the Chemist, Unit 5 – 6 The West 12 Centre, Shepherds Bush. W12 8PPIn addition to offering NHS Health Checks at six local pharmacies, NHS Hammersmith and Fulham has organised teams of healthcare professionals to carry out the checks at a range of community events during the next 12 months.  Look out for information on the events online at www.hf.nhs.uk and in the local press.  Alternatively, if you are aged between 40 and 74, you can request to have a Health Check carried out by your GP. For information about Health Checks visit www.nhs.uk or call the national NHS Health Checks helpline on 0845 850 9850.  Alternatively, call NHS Hammersmith and Fulham’s Patient Advice and Liaison Service on 0800 389 9092 to find out more about Health Checks locally.

Broken Britain

Broken BritainBritain has a broken society. This is a dark portrait but it is very true. Children are left to rot and they grew into animals. Binge drinking, drug addiction, a culture of disrespect and antisocial behavior, teenage pregnancies and abortions, knife and gun culture are part and parcel of every day life in all big city centers. The teenage pregnancies and the sheer madness of sex education teach nothing about morality. British society is suffering from unprecedented social decay and societal breakdown, according to the Children’s Society shocking evidence. Britain has more broken families than other countries. British children are rougher with each other, and live more riskily in terms of alcohol, drugs and teenage pregnancies. Britain's rate of teenage pregnancy is the highest in Western Europe. According to official figures, nearly half of all babies are now born out of wedlock. They are more likely to suffer social, mental and emotional problems. Research has revealed that migrants in Britain are more likely to have children within marriage. The teaching of sex education could not curb teenage pregnancies. Infact, it has simply increased. This is a clear indication of broken society. It is an eye opening for the Muslim community who sends their children to state schools with non-Muslim monolingual teachers. In broken Britain, the break downs of family are ripping apart communities. According to a report, Scottish schools like English schools have become home for rapes, gun and knife culture, drug dealing, gang culture and racism.  It is a horrendous portrayal of the collapse of civilized life and of human despair. Carrying weapons is becoming the norms, violence is “routine” and families are terrorized by gangs. Every parent is worried about his child being indoctrinated into the idea that gay and sexual promiscuity is “normal” modes of behavior. Homosexuality was regarded as mental illness but now blue eyed western educated elites are its defenders and promoters. The spectre of hidden epidemic of sex crimes inside Britain’s classrooms has emerged after Scotland Yard revealed there have been nearly 900 rapes or sex attacks in schools. The vast majority of victims were school children under the age of 16. As many as one in three were under 11. According to official figures, hundreds of children under the age of 12 were treated for addiction to drink and drugs.Children are being taught that sexually transmitted diseases could be easily treated and there is no acknowledgement of the emotional harm of premature sexual activity. The truth is that more sex education and contraception are provided to children and teenagers, the more they fall pregnant. Studies have shown that access to contraception and sex education, sexual activity and conception and pregnancy rates go up. The sexual health of young Londoners is a “major public health issue” and still among the worst in the country, despite innovative projects and improvements in services. The demand for Muslim schools comes from parents who want their children a safe environment with an Islamic ethos. Parents see Muslim schools where children can develop their Islamic Identity where they won't feel stigmatised for being Muslims and they can feel confident about their faith. The significance and value of Muslim schools is that the Islamic religion imposed obligations of good citizenship, keeping the peace and paying taxes. While ambition of state school is to get children humping each other before they are out of primary school and giving them parenting classes when they are fourteen to help the girls cope with the babies they will have conceived at thirteen. Where Are The Law Enforcement Officers

First, I would like to mention that I don't mean to offend anyone! I really do apologise if I do. Because that is not my intention at all! It is just that I feel very frustrated when I see something like this and we are living in a civilised society, aren't we? You may certainly have come across some people or businesses that are given the opportunity to park their vehicles on part of the pavement which is for pedestrian use! I believe this a favour offered with discretion, after careful consideration and study not given to anyone, just like that! But the problem is that some of them are abusing of the system, they take the whole pavement not just the designated space and apparently,  nothing is done towards that! Some of them park 24/7 365days a year. They close the pavement for pedestrians; pedestrians whether they are disabled, or mums with their buggies find themselves walking on the road because of this reckless behaviour! Not to mention these trucks or vans also obstruct the drivers' sight coming out at some junctions, which is a real danger as well. Especially, coming motorbikes which can hardly be seen! Where are those Traffic Wardens? Everywhere in the world this is not allowed and it is called: ABUSIVE PARKING!I can't understand why, nothing is done to these people! I have seen this for a long while now, and I waited long to see something happening! NOTHING! Even community police should act when they see such a thing but it doesn't seem that they have been trained for that and that is not amongst their priorities!I have seen Traffic Warden very eager to issue ticket to people who are parked legally in a safe place causing no danger or whatsoever except that they may have forgotten to display their tickets or blue badges! Fair enough they may deserve it because, some drivers' like to play the cat and the mouse, or it's one of their hobbies to play the risky game and not to follow the rules of the law in this country or anywhere else! But where are the Law Enforcement Officers, in this case?

Muslim Children and Sex Education

Muslim Children and Sex EducationMuslim parents teach their children to respect their teachers. From a very young age, we are taught that Islam teaches us that after our parents, our teachers are most deserving of respect. It must be an extremely confusing time for the Muslim parent in Leytonstone, London. For up to 30 parents may face prosecution for withdrawing their children from school, disobeying the teachers in the school, simply to secure a decent moral upbringing for their children. The school had decided to have a week of lessons about lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender history. Part of this was a special adaptation of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet retitled Romeo and Julian as well as fairytales and stories changed to show men falling in love with men. Rather than filling the heads of impressionable boys and girls with fatuous drivel about gay penguins, schools should be ashamed of the fact that they are sending children out into the world barely able to read, write and add up properly. Muslim children are leaving schools without learning their cultural roots and linguistic skills. The action was being taken against the parents as part of a policy of ' promoting tolerance'. So why not tolerate parents, who, for sincerely-held reasons, consider their children too young to be taught about gay relationships? This isn't education, its cultural fascism. A record numbers of pupils persistently played truant in 2006-07, with around 272,950 pupils persistently absent in 2007, missing more than 20% of school. We rarely see councils prosecute the parents of these persistent truants. Yet, the parents who removed their children as a one-off to protect their morality may be prosecuted! If the local council does decide to go through with a prosecution, it would be in line with the government's approach to the Muslim community. Muslims who believe homosexuality is a sin would be labelled as extremists. Liberal totalitarianism is a growing phenomenon in Britain and the west in general but many people will be shocked that the school can override a parent's view of what's appropriate or inappropriate to teach their children. This latest episode should be a wakeup call for Muslim parents. Muslim parents MUST explain our moral standards to schools and be prepared to take steps to protect our children’s morals and values from a growing agenda to impose liberal values upon them. This is an eye opening for those Muslim parents who keep on sending their children to state schools to be mis-educated and de-educated by non-Muslim monolingual teachers. The solution of all the problems facing Muslim children is state funded Muslim schools with bilingual Muslim teachers. Those state schools where Muslim children are in majority may be designated as Muslim community schools. Bilingual Muslim children need state funded Muslim schools with bilingual Muslim teachers as role models during their developmental periods. Iftikhar Ahmadwww.londonschoolofislamics.org.uk

State Funded Muslim Schools

The demand for Muslim schools comes from parents who want their children a safe environment with an Islamic ethos.Parents see Muslim schools where children can develop their Islamic Identity where they won't feel stigmatised for being Muslims and they can feel confident about their faith.Muslim schools are working to try to create a bridge between communities. There is a belief among ethnic minority parens that the British schooling does not adequatly address their cultural needs. Failing to meet this need could result in feeling resentment among a group who already feel excluded. Setting up Muslim school is a defensive response. State schools with monolingual teachers are not capable to teach English to bilingual Muslim children. Bilingual teachers are needed to teach English to such children along with their mother tongue. According to a number of  studies, a child will not learn a second language if his first language is ignored. Bilingual Muslim children need state funded Muslim schools with bilingual Muslim teachers as role models during their developmental periods. Muslims have the right to educate their children in an environment that suits their culture. This notion of "integration", actually means "assimilation", by which people generally really mean "be more like me". That is not multiculturalism. In Sydney, Muslims were refused to build a Muslim school, because of a protest by the residents. Yet a year later, permission was given for the building of a Catholic school and no protests from the residents. This clrearly shows the blatant hypocrisy, double standards and racism. Christians oppose Muslim schools in western countries yet build their own religious schools. British schooling and the British society is the home of institutional racism. The result is that Muslim children are unable to developself-confidence and self-esteem, therefore, majority of them leave schools with low grades. Racism is deeply rooted in British society. Every native child is born with a gene or virus of racism, therefore, no law could change the attitudes of racism towards those who are different. It is not only the common man, even member of the royal family is involved in racism. The father of a Pakistani office cadet who was called a "Paki" by Prince Harryhas profoundly condemned his actions. He had felt proud when he met the Queen and the Prince of Wales at his son's passing out parade at Sandhurst in 2006 but now felt upset after learning about the Prince's comments. Queen Victoria invited an Imam from India to teach her Urdu language. He was highly respected by the Queen but other members of the royal family had no respect for him. He was forced to go back to India. His protrait is still in one of the royal places. There are hundreds of state schools where Muslim pupils are in majority. In my opinion, all such schools may be designated as Muslim community schools with bilingual Muslim teachers. There is no place for a non-Muslim child or a teacher in a Muslim school.Iftikhar Ahmadwww.londonschoolofislamics.org.uk

C4 documentary looking for case studies in Fulham...

I am an Assistant Producer working for betty, an independent TV production company that specialises in people-based documentary films and series’. We are currently making a three part documentary series for Channel 4 about the working relationship between builders and their clients and are looking for people who might be interested in getting involved with the filming process. We are looking for homeowners & builders in the Greater London area who have run into problems on a large scale domestic building project and need some help to get it back on track. We will offer the services (for free) of a leading industry expert to work with the homeowners and the builders to help resolve any problems.  The programme is a great opportunity to reach an amicable solution that gets everything running smoothly again for all concerned. The first two episodes reached an agreeable solution for both parties and I am confident that we can do the same for those involved in our final episode. My initial aim is to have an informal chat with the homeowners to determine whether or not the project meets the criteria of the documentary and I will then work on contacting the builder to explain the premise of the series.  Again we have managed to achieve this with our first two episodes and barring disaster we should be able to make it work the third time around.  The filming period is likely to last 2-3 weeks with our industry expert, Jeff Howell, spending 2 days each week at the building location.  Please do get in touch for an informal chat should the above apply to you or alternatively please pass on my contact details to anyone currently experiencing difficulties.  Best wishesFiona Wilson0207 907 0869 / fiona.wilson@betty.co.uk

The "Million Pixel Web Page" activity and more.

This was posted by Jim Lawes,         on Ealingtoday.com.uk.Simon take a look for Business?Forum MessageTopic: The "Million Pixel Webpage" activity and more       Forum Home  Posted by: Jim Lawes Date/Time: 16/10/05 04:51:00  http://www.milliondollarhomepage.com/Many of you will have seen the lead story in THE TIMES2 on 14thOctober about the young student Alex Tew who has seemingly launched a "brilliant idea" to make pots of money quickly! His simple idea was to create a webpage containing 1,000,000 pixels which he sells for $1 dollar each...in blocks of 10 x 10 for $100s.Then he uploads your logo/image onto the webpage..and site visitors click onto your logo and find your ad. In some three weeks he has sold nearly 400,000 pixels ..and he is already a winner.Others are jumping on the bandwagon..and why not.  There is another new site offering 1p per pixel..and I have just seen an E-bay Pixel.com which highlights products for auction. The opportunities  strike me as being endless. Its a major clever idea..and its bound to grow and grow. The home webpages look so inviting..just like patchwork jig-saws...tempting visitors to the sites to click..click click. Those people who have bought these pixel sites have reported a rapid growth in their website traffic. Then I've seen small pixel ads (say 20 x 10) that lead you to someone else's Million Pixel webpage..etc..just like chain letters, and pyramid selling schemes but without the risks.  There would seem to be a wonderful business opportunity here if you are quick off the mark ..and use an ideal and memorable site name. It has world wide and cyberspace wide potential..does it not.Even the Times newspaper has purchased a sizable block of pixels fromhttp://www.milliondollarhomepage.com/Read the blog page on http://www.milliondollarhomepage.com/ and get excited about young Alex's Tew day to day jottings.Any thoughts?  In 5 weeks time...you might be able to pay off all your bills!! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------Forum Home
