Hammersmith & Fulham Council is set to approve plans for two areas in Fulham with combined total of 41 new flats.
Borough officers have recommended the Planning Committee approves separate developments in Parsons Green and in Walham Green. The sites include garages in Parsons Green and a car park near Fulham Road with both proposed to be torn out and replaced with new, affordable units.
The applications are being reviewed on Tuesday, January 20.
The council wants to tear down existing garages and sheds along Pearscroft Road in Parsons Green and replace them with part-four, part-five storey block, according to a planning application.
The development is set to consist of 38 modern flats split into 10 one-bed, 15 two-bed and 13 three-bed flats. Half of these – 19 flats – will be affordable and split between social rent (63per cent) and shared ownership (37pc).
There will be three disabled-friendly flats located on the bottom three floors. The development will be fitted with solar panels, air source heat pumps and an acoustic ‘enclosure’ on the roof for residents.
According to the application, the existing garages and storage buildings are in poor conditions, are “unsightly” and make no positive contribution to the visual quality of the area. The garages are said to be underused and struggle to accommodate modern vehicles due to their size.
According to the council, the loss of these 16 car spots is “acceptable” thanks to ample on-street parking. The new building will also consist of a 74sqm play space and 585sqpm of public open space to replace the current 200sqm of space.

The council has also applied to build three residential units on an existing car park on Barclay Close, according to another planning application.
The homes would all be four-bedroom flats and will be affordable, with one at social rent and two with shared ownership. They will be located in a new three-storey building and all units will be accessible and adaptable.
The building will be flat-roofed with a brick finish. According to the application, seven of the 12 existing car spaces will be reconfigured within the road layout.
A previously approved scheme would have seen six flats built. The permission expired and the council decided to build larger, family-friendly flats. The site is located south east of Fulham Road and is surrounded by similar sized blocks.
