Fulham Camerata returns this autumn with a programme shaped by themes of reflection, mortality, faith and consolation, presented under the title The Closing of the Day. The concert takes place on Saturday 14 November at 6.30pm at All Saints Church, Fulham, and brings together four composers writing across four centuries, each offering a distinct response to endings and what endures beyond them.

The choir will perform music by Brahms, Schütz and Judith Weir, whose contemporary voice has long been admired for its clarity, emotional directness and ability to illuminate familiar texts in unexpected ways. The evening moves gradually from the intimacy of personal reflection to a broader sense of communal solace, closing with Judith Weir and an invitation for both choir and audience to sing together. It is a gesture that brings the journey from dawn to dusk to a shared conclusion, emphasising the collective nature of choral music and the comfort it can offer.

This autumn concert also marks the debut of Gabriella Noble, Fulham Camerata’s new Musical Director. A conductor and mezzo-soprano based in London, she trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and has worked with the National Youth Choir since 2018. Her career has already included posts at St Peter’s, London Docks and St Martin-in-the-Fields, where she conducted in broadcasts for the BBC. Noble’s dual life as singer and conductor shapes her approach to music-making; she brings a performer’s instinct for phrasing and colour to her work on the podium, and a conductor’s structural awareness to her singing.

Her operatic work continues to develop alongside her choral career. Last summer she made her debut as Cherubino with the Cumbria Opera Group, and she is now extending that experience with Oxford Opera in The Marriage of Figaro.

Tickets cost £25 or £15 for students and under 25s. They can be purchased on the door or through the Fulham Camerata web site where an early bird discount is available.
