Pupils at Fulham Primary School welcomed their local Member of Parliament, Ben Coleman, last week during a visit to officially open the school’s newly completed playground.

The visit by the representative for Chelsea and Fulham included a ribbon-cutting ceremony, followed by a tour of the new outdoor space, which has been designed to support children’s development and social interaction through creative play. Staff and pupils were joined by Head of School John Lynch, Executive Principal Seamus Gibbons, and Chair of Governors Andy Mathias.

During the visit, Mr Coleman also led a school assembly where he spoke about his role as an MP and answered questions from pupils on a range of topics, including his favourite sport and ideas for improving the local area.

John Lynch said the visit was a positive experience for the school community. “I know the children really enjoyed chatting to him and asking him questions about his life as an MP and what it is like working in Parliament,” he said. “All of us at Fulham Primary School are very grateful to him for generously giving up his time.”

Mr Coleman described the playground as “exciting” and “imaginative,” and praised the pupils for their thoughtful questions and enthusiasm. “It was an honour to open Fulham Primary’s new playground,” he said. “I’m sure it will make playtimes even more active and fun.”

The new facility is part of the school’s ongoing efforts to enhance its learning environment and provide inclusive spaces for pupils to thrive.
