A 20-year-old man was seriously injured after being stabbed near Imperial Wharf railway station this Wednesday afternoon (18 June).
Detectives are appealing for witnesses to the attack which took place shortly before 5:20pm. Paramedics treated the victim at the scene after which he was taken to hospital with injuries which are described as potentially life-changing and he remains in hospital for continued treatment.
DS Marc Farmer of British Transport Police said, “There is absolutely no place for violence on the railway network, and detectives are working at pace to investigate this incident. Passengers will see an increased police presence at the station while officers carry out their enquiries.
“We know the station was busy at the time of the incident and many people may have seen what happened or the events leading up to it, so we are urging anyone with information to get in touch and assist us with our enquiries.”
Officers urge witnesses, or anyone else with information who is yet to speak to police, to get in touch by texting 61016 or by calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 553 of 18 June.
No arrests have been made in connection at this time.
