Move Against Cancer provides resources and support for individuals navigating treatment and recovery
September 2, 2025
A new initiative encouraging physical activity among those affected by cancer is set to launch at Fulham Palace Parkrun. The group, part of the national 5KYourWay programme led by the charity Move Against Cancer, invites participants to walk, jog, run, or simply attend in support of others. It is open to anyone living with or beyond cancer, as well as their friends, family, and healthcare professionals.
The Fulham Palace group will meet for the first time on Saturday 27 September in Bishop’s Park, with participants gathering at 8:40am outside The Teahouse café ahead of the 9am parkrun. Attendees are encouraged to wear blue 5KYourWay t-shirts, though participation is informal and flexible. The initiative is designed to promote wellbeing and improve health outcomes through regular movement, regardless of pace or distance.
5KYourWay groups operate across the UK on the last Saturday of each month, linking with local parkrun events to offer a supportive environment for those affected by cancer. The programme emphasises community, inclusion, and personal choice, allowing participants to engage in whatever way suits them—whether that’s completing the full 5km, volunteering, or joining for coffee afterwards.
Move Against Cancer, the charity behind the initiative, provides resources and support for individuals navigating treatment and recovery. The Fulham Palace group joins a growing network of local chapters aiming to build community and promote healthy living through shared activity.
More information about the group and how to register is available at www.moveagainstcancer.org, and details about Fulham Palace Parkrun can be found at parkrun.org.uk/fulhampalace.
