Aldi Confirms Date of Opening on Fulham Broadway

Budget supermarket announces eagerly awaited launch in shopping centre

The new Aldi store

August 26, 2025

Budget supermarket Aldi will open its doors in Fulham Broadway shopping centre at 8am in Thursday 4 September.

The launch of the new store, which is taking over the site formerly used by Wilko, has been eagerly awaited by local shoppers who have seen the facade on the front of the centre being gradually transformed.

The store, which will be open six days a week from 8m till 10pm and from 11am till 5pm on Sundays, will be on two floors, with escalators running between the ground floor entrance and the main shopping floor in the basement.

Aldi becomes the second supermarket in the centre, alongside the long established branch of Sainsbury's and Fulham's second budget store. A branch of rival chain Lidl opened almost exactly a year ago, on 12 September, 2024 in nearby North End Road.

The store is also one of three large new developments on Fulham Broadway, beginning with the launch in July of the new Wetherspoon's Walham Green pub in the former ticket hall of Fulham Broadway Station. The third launch will be a new M&S Foodhall, scheduled to open this autumn on the site formerly used by Whole Foods Market.

Aldi boasts that Which! has named it Britain's cheapest supermarket for the last four years. Announcing its launch plans in May this years, Jonathan Neale, the company's Managing Director of National Real Estate, said: “At Aldi, our goal is to ensure everyone has access to high-quality food at unbeatable prices, and we’re committed to achieving that with our ambitious store opening plans.

“We’re targeting 40 new store openings in 2025, while many of our current stores will also be getting a refresh to enhance the customer experience, meaning we can consistently offer the best value for money to even more shoppers across the UK.”
