Pho Trading, which runs the restaurant chain Pho, has applied to Hammersmith & Fulham Council for a premises licence for 4 Broadway Chambers, which has been empty since the closure of BBQ chain Bodean’s.

Pho specialises in a range of the spicy soups that give the chain its name, as well as curries, noodle and rice bowls, spring and summer rolls and Vietnamese pancakes.

The chain was launched in the summer of 2005 by founders Stephen and Juliette Wall, who fell in love with Vietnamese food after travelling to the country. They say they made the decision to open their own restaurant while sitting on high stools, slurping pho bo in Ho Chi MInh City.

18 years later, they run 40 restaurants across London and around the country, serving healthy Vietnamese food which is cooked fresh in onsite kitchens every day.

There is already one Pho in our borough, in the food court at Westfield London in Shepherd’s Bush, as well as nearby restaurants in Battersea, Chiswick and Ealing.

The new launch would be open seven days a week from midday till 12.30am from Monday to Saturday and 11pm on Sundays.

The licence application, which is currently open for consultation, can be seen on the council website using the reference 2023/01541/LAPR.

If granted a licence, Pho will add to the mix of Oriental cuisines on offer in this corner of the Broadway. The site is opposite Korean BBQ restaurant Yori as well as Chinese restaurant Shanghai Rouge, which has recently opened on the first floor of the Broadway Bar and Grill.

The ever-popular Wagamama meanwhile, with its Japanese inspired pan Asian menu, is currently the only restaurant open on the first floor of Fulham Broadway shopping centre while Nando’s is closed for refurbishment. The chicken chain is due to reopen in the middle of the month.

Fulham Broadway has however also suffered recent casualties, with Caribbean restaurant Mama’s Jerk shutting its doors within months of launching. Though it claims to be temporarily closed, with signs on the windows initially claiming there had been a fire on the premises, a note on the door now says that the locks have been changed.
