A new location has been opened on a jetty by the Thames which will host riverside events and provide an education venue for hire.

Kingfisher Wharf launches this month and has been paid for the developers of the Riverstone Fulham scheme.

Designed to be a versatile and light-filled venue, with a wildlife-friendly sedum roof it is connected to the towpath by a footbridge near Townmead Road.

It comprises two distinct yet interconnecting spaces, The Studio and The Waterscape, which can be booked separately or together.

The Studio is a classroom or meeting space for up to four tables of eight people, with a built-in interactive 65-inch screen and views to the south of the river, for a maximum of 32 people.

The Waterscape is an event and entertainment space for weddings, special occasions, or corporate functions, with live music until 11pm. Waterscape guests have access to The Deck, an al fresco standing area.

Kingfisher Wharf is fully operated and managed by Riverstone and can open seven days a week, including Bank Holidays. It holds a full alcohol licence.

The pricing structure gives a preferential discount to local education authority schools. The installation of a second footbridge in 2024 will increase the total venue capacity to 110 people.

Greg Mace, Chief Experience Officer at Riverstone comments, “We are excited to launch the Kingfisher Wharf, which is a unique new venue on the Thames. As well as being used for celebrations and events, the space has been designed with the latest AV equipment to support a range of intergenerational experiences based on education and learning.

“Research has shown that social participation and a sense of community belonging improve both wellbeing and health in older adults, and when the participation takes the form of learning and education, the benefits are even greater. Riverstone looks forward to supporting local schools and other stakeholders for intergenerational projects across London, potentially with Kingfisher Wharf as a hub.”
