A seventeen-year-old boy had to be taken to hospital after being mugged in Fulham's Bishop's Park this Friday (12 January).

It is understood the victim, who is a sixth former at a local school, had arranged to meet friends to play football when he was set upon by a group of masked youths wearing hoodies at around 5pm.

He was kept in hospital overnight after it was found his skull had been fractured and he had suffered severe concussion.

It is the latest in a series of robberies in the area in which young people have been targeted for their phones.

Hammersmith & Fulham Council stepped up patrols in the park after the incident in an attempt to offer reassurance.

The attack happened at about as families with smaller children were leaving the park.

A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said,“Police were called at around 7pm after a 17-year-old male had attended hospital with a head injury. He reported he had been attacked and robbed by a group of males in Bishop's Park at around 5pm that day.

“An investigation is ongoing to identify those responsible.”
