All park users invited to attend
The Friends of South Park will hold their second Annual
General Meeting on January 25, and are encouraging everyone who uses the park to come along.
The meeting will begin at 7pm at St Thomas's School in Hugon Road. As well as the Annual Report and Presentation of Accounts, the meeting will include the election of officers and committee for the coming year.
The Friends of South Park, who are formally recognised by Hammersmith and Fulham Council, were established in January 2009, following years of lobbying and campaigning. Membership is open to all.
In November, the Friends held an open meeting in response to a new version of the Master Plan design for the park produced by Hammersmith and Fulham Council.
This plan involved the sale of the north west corner of the park, including Clancarty Lodge, for residential use.
Those present voted unanimously against the sale, not least because the Deputy Leader of the Council, who attended the meeting, was unable provide assurance that the proceeds from any s sale would be ring fenced for the benefit of the park.
The meeting also mandated the committee to work with the Council to pursue alternative funding options for restoration and improvements.
