Christmas Collection in Scoobie's Memory
Money raised to show support for family of murdered singer
A special Christmas collection has been organised for the family of Fulham singer Scoobie Santino, who was murdered in March.
Scoobie, real Ian Newtion, was on his way back to his home in Fulham after a concert in the Scout Hut in Greenford on Saturday March 21 when he was attacked in an underpass under Greenford Roundabout.
He was found with his throat cut by a member of the public and pronounced dead at the scene.
In the 1990s, gifted reggae singer Ian, 45, teamed up with Sweetie Irie to produce a hit record called Cash Money. Since then, he had combined his musical career with a job as a delivery driver.
His murder was featured by the BBC’s Crimewatch programme and the police investigation into his death continues.
This is the first Christmas that his family will be without him and the donations are intended as a mark of sympathy from local residents, to be used to defray their expenses or put towards a memorial.
It is hoped that it will also act as a reminder to any undiscovered witnesses who can give information to the Metropolitan Police (020 8358 0400) or anonymously through Crimestoppers (0800 555 111).
The money will be passed on to the family through the local Safer Communities Team by ward councillor Sue Emment.
Money can be donated at The Railway pub, 390 Oldfield Lane North, close to Greenford Station.
