Road closed westbound from Talgarth Road to Hogarth Roundabout
It has now been confirmed that a man has died after a collision on the A4 in Hammersmith involving three cars.
The incident overnight has required the A4 Great West Road to be closed westbound this Friday morning, 7 June.
Police say they were called at approximately 1.40am to reports of a road traffic collision on the westbound carriageway of the A4 by Hammersmith Flyover.
One man was pronounced dead at the scene and three others, believed to be in their twenties, have been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving – all have been taken to hospital as a precaution. There are no reports of any other serious injuries.
@TfLTrafficNews reported just after 2am: " [A4] Great West Road (Westbound) at the junction of Nigel Playfair Avenue - Road is closed due to a road traffic collision. Please use other routes."
Then this morning: "One incident from overnight - the A4 is closed westbound at Hammersmith Flyover due to a serious collision further west in the early hours. Tailbacks to Warwick Road with Hammersmith Gyratory also bearing the brunt, which is causing eastbound congestion from Hogarth."
The road is closed for investigation work from Talgarth Road to Hogarth Roundabout, Chiswick. Tailbacks are reaching Earls Court, and also eastbound from Hogarth Roundabout.

The westbound carriageway of the A4 remains closed around the scene of the collision. At this stage it is thought that the closure will remain in place for most of the morning.
TfL say they are monitoring and managing traffic but major traffic congestion is likely going into rush hour, and motorists are being advised to please avoid the area and find an alternative route where possible.
Buses in the Hammersmith area are also subject to delays and short-notice alterations this morning due to the closure of the A4 Great West Road westbound.
