This Saturday (24 May) sees a Festival of Cycling take place across Hammersmith and Fulham.
A series of free family events are being staged across the borough from noon to 6pm. There will be guided rides, cycling related activities, expert advice and challenges for cyclists of all ages and abilities.
The marshalled, led rides will show how to navigate safely around the area on quiet roads and the growing network of cycling routes.
These family-friendly rides depart from a range of festival hubs at 1pm and 4pm.

A second hand bike market is taking place at Eelbrook Common, Fulham where there will be a chance to buy pre-loved bikes at affordable prices. You can also trade in your old bike for an extra discount. All proceeds will go towards local charity West London Welcome who work to support refugees and asylum seekers in H&F.
Dr Bike, a group professional mechanics will give your bike a free health check and carry out minor repairs on the spot. Bring your bike along for adjustments to brakes, gears, and other basic maintenance.

You can watch your little ones take their first pedal strokes in a safe environment at the tennis courts near Favart Road in Fulham. Bring your own bike if you can and instructors will provide step-by-step guidance to help children develop balance and cycle confidence. A small number of children's bikes can be supplied on a first-come-first-served basis.

There will be a chance to test ride a cargo bike, including electric ones, from a range of vendors on the newly opened cycle lane on Hammersmith Bridge.
Protect your bike from theft with free security marking by dropping by to a range of locations between 12pm-2pm to have your bike registered on the national BikeRegister database with a unique ID, making it easier to recover if stolen and deterring thieves with visible security markings.

You can also try out an inclusive range of specially designed bikes that make cycling accessible for everyone, regardless of ability. From tricycles to side-by-side cycles, All Ability will have options to suit different needs and abilities in Ravenscourt Park.
There is also a chance to take a ride on Cycle Connect’s side-by-side e-assist cycles. These unique vehicles allow passengers to ride with a trained pilot, with the option to pedal for exercise or simply enjoy the journey while the pilot manages everything
For absolute novices there is a chance to train in a safe environment at the tennis courts near W6 Garden Centre and Cafe. Instructors will provide tailored training for complete beginners through to those wanting to improve their road skills. Open to adults and children aged 10+, all abilities are welcome, and there are bikes available if you don't have your own.
For more experienced and daring cyclists, there is an opportunity to experience the thrill of BMX with FireRide UK's professional riders. Watch pro ride stunt demos or learn e tricks and techniques on a specially designed course. Whether you're a beginner or looking to refine your skills, experienced coaches will help you gain confidence and improve your riding technique.
