Police's Rogues Gallery Scores its First Success

Suspect hands himself into police after seeing his mugshot displayed

A "rogues gallery" organised by Hammersmith and Fulham Police has scored its first success.

Suspected jewel thief Sean Patterson, 22, handed himself in to Hammersmith Police station early this morning after seeing his own image on a range of publicity materials issued in a joint initiative between Hammersmith & Fulham Council and the Met Police.

The material included a van touring the boought with three foot high mugshots of seven "Most Wanted" suspects.

Patterson, 22, was arrested at 1.15am on Thursday February 9 for his part in a £2,000 jewellery heist in W12. He went on the run after failing to appear at Isleworth Crown Court on November 3, 2011.

He has now been remanded in custody awaiting his trial for burglary later in the month.

Chief Superintendent Lucy D'Orsi, H&F Borough Commander, said:"“I am pleased that this campaign has had an initial positive result and that the first of these offenders has handed himself in to the police.

" I would urge the others to do the same as my officers will continue with their enquires aimed at bringing them to justice. Hammersmith & Fulham Police are committed to utilising new technology to fight crime, target offenders and engage with the local community."

Officers want to quiz the suspects, who are all on the run or who failed to appear in court for a range of offences including drug dealing, ABH and burglary.

Chief Superintendent Lucy D'Orsi, H&F Borough Commander, says: " We are committed to catching all outstanding offenders who think that they can evade justice. We are, in addition to using traditional techniques and electronic media, publishing these images right across the borough and would urge people to contact us so that these criminals can be brought before the courts."
