Strike at Westbourne Park Garage Continues

Local bus services likely to be hit over rest of the month

The number 295 route is one that is being affected

More than 350 workers at London Transit’s Westbourne Park depot, employed as drivers, engineers and stores staff, have rejected a below‑inflation pay offer from parent company First Bus and will take further strike action.

Industrial action started last week and will continue on 14, 17, 18, 26, 27 and 28 November. The action follows an earlier four‑day walkout this autumn and is intended to press the company for a substantially improved pay settlement.

The strikes will disrupt services on routes operated from Westbourne Park, specifically the 13, 23, 31, N31, 218, 295 and 452. On each strike day passengers should expect significantly reduced frequencies on these routes and, in some cases, no service at all for long periods.

The loss of these bus services is likely to push passengers onto alternative buses, the Tube and local rail services, creating heavier crowding at stations such as Hammersmith and on unaffected bus routes. Night‑time travellers must note that the N31 night service is listed among those affected, so late‑night and early‑morning connections between central London and Hammersmith or Fulham may be unreliable. Short local trips—shopping, school runs, medical appointments—will take longer, and people with mobility needs should plan for the possibility that step‑free or door‑to‑door options may be more difficult to arrange on strike days.

Passengers should allow extra time for journeys and consider travelling outside peak times where possible to avoid the worst of the crowding. For longer trips, the Tube and rail services will generally operate and can offer a more reliable alternative, though they may be busier than normal. Short cross‑borough journeys may be quicker on foot or by bike; local Santander Cycles and private hire options could provide alternatives for those able to use them. Anyone dependent on a specific connection should check planned timetables and consider earlier or later travel to reduce the risk of being stranded.

Unite says its members rejected the company’s pay offer as below inflation and has pledged full support to the workers taking industrial action.
