Talented young performers present Accidential Heroes and The Luna Club
West London’s most talented young performers join forces with some of the UK’s most inventive theatre makers to present the debut season of the recently launched Lyric Young Company.
In the Main House, award-winning writer/director Mark Murphy directs Accidental Heroes whilst in the Studio, Anglo-Brazilian company Dende Collective present The Luna Club.
One of the largest theatre companies of its kind to be launched in the UK in recent years, Lyric Young Company (LYC) is made up of young west Londoners aged 17 –19 from across borough including Hammersmith and Fulham, Ealing and Hounslow.
Accidental Heroes – Main House 2 – 4 August
Award-winning writer/director Mark Murphy directs a highly physical and visually stunning new show about courage and violence. Starting with news stories and random incidents from the local paper, Accidental Heroes weaves together the inconsequential and the life-changing, the sublime and the ridiculous. Previously at the Lyric with 1984, Mark has worked with the Royal Shakespeare Company, Northern Stage Ensemble and was founder and director of the acclaimed Vtol Dance Company. He has also received two prestigious Peggy Ramsay Foundation Awards for his writing.
The Luna Club – Lyric Studio 1 – 4 August
Anglo-Brazilian theatre-makers Dende Collective create the magical and bizarre world of The Luna Club, inspired by a series of short stories by Chilean author, Isabel Allende. Previously at the Lyric with the surreal and sensual Dona Flor and her Two Husbands, and more recently with the European premiere of Agreste, Dende also presented Time Out Critic’s Choice, The Piranha Lounge at the Lyric in 2004.
