Gregg Kofi Brown is curating the evening's entertainment
June 22, 2026
The Irish Cultural Centre in Hammersmith is gearing up for one of the most vibrant nights of the summer as Afro-Gael Beats brings its high-energy fusion of African rhythms and Celtic tradition to the stage on Saturday 18 July at 8pm.
Curated by Gregg Kofi Brown, the internationally acclaimed singer-songwriter and frontman of Afro-rock pioneers Osibisa, the concert unites a powerhouse nine-piece ensemble blending the pulsating grooves of West Africa with the soaring melodies of Irish traditional music. The result is a foot-stomping, genre-bending celebration of rhythm, culture and community.
Brown, known worldwide for hits including Sunshine Day, Shadow with Billy Cobham, and Lullaby to an Anxious Child featuring Sting, brings decades of global touring experience to this one-off Hammersmith performance. His songwriting credentials include co-writing the Billboard No. 1 dance hit Baby Talk and recent collaborations with artists such as Des’ree, Stanley Jordan, Patti Austin and Ed Sheeran.
For this special show, Brown and members of Osibisa — Gabriel Yeboah, Ato Roni Amonoo, Awillo, Clare Hirst and Awala — will be joined by an exceptional line-up of Irish musicians. Multi-instrumentalist John Devine, saxophonist Caz Devine, New York-born Irish fiddler Ali Monaghan, and acclaimed bodhrán player Holly Fitz will help create a thrilling collision of jigs, reels, percussion and irresistible dance-floor energy.
The concert also marks the 20th anniversary of Brown’s celebrated solo album Together As One. To mark the occasion, the first 50 ticket-holders will receive a signed copy featuring collaborations with Sting, Des’ree, Gabrielle, Billy Cobham, Roachford, Stanley Jordan and Dominic Miller.
Tickets cost £20 or £18 for concessions and can be purchased at the Irish Cultural Centre web site.
The centre can be contacted on 0208 563 8232.
