Emery Walker’s House in Hammersmith will mark the 175th anniversary of the birth of Sir Emery Walker FSA in 2026 with a full programme of special events, exhibitions and tours celebrating his life, friendships and legacy within the Arts and Crafts movement.

Walker (1851–1933) was a master engraver, photographer and printer, and a close friend and collaborator of William Morris. The Trust hopes the anniversary year will shine new light not only on his craft but also on the personal relationships that shaped the remarkable riverside home he left behind.

Throughout 2026, visitors will be able to see rarely displayed portraits of Walker alongside items from the house’s archives, including gifts and mementoes from his circle of friends, which included Morris and George Bernard Shaw. Two new exhibitions will explore Walker’s creative partnerships and reveal more about the lesser-known aspects of his life.

Because the house museum can accommodate only a small number of visitors at a time, pre‑booking is strongly advised.
