A man in his twenties being questioned by police
Police say the man who was stabbed to death in Fulham High Street on Thursday night was believed to be in his sixties.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, close to the Eight Bells pub and the junction with Ranelagh Gardens near Putney Bridge tube station, at around 7pm last night.
Police have arrested a male in his late twenties who is custody at a west London police station, and are now questioning him about the fatal attack.
The area was sealed off last night as forensic teams moved in. Police say that the victim’s next of kin have yet to be informed.
Detectives from the Met’s homicide and serious crime command are investigating the stabbing.
A spokesman for the London Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 6.55pm to reports of a stabbing in Fulham High Street.
"We sent a single respondent in the car, an ambulance crew and a duty manager to the scene but sadly the patient died."
