Volunteers can give as little as two hours of their time. Picture: Royal British Legion

The Royal British Legion is appealing for volunteers to support its annual Poppy Appeal, which will run from 23 October to 9 November 2025. The organisation is seeking individuals who can spare as little as two hours to help sell poppies at supermarkets, shopping centres, and transport hubs across London, including Chiswick, Putney, Brentford, Shepherd’s Bush, Hammersmith and Fulham.
Angus Watson, who manages a team of volunteer organisers for the Legion, emphasised the urgent need for support this year. “We’re incredibly grateful for any time people can give—whether it’s two hours or two weeks,” he said. “Every volunteer helps us raise vital funds for veterans and their families.”
The Royal British Legion provides a wide range of services to support those who have served in the armed forces. Many veterans face challenges transitioning to civilian life, including employment difficulties, financial hardship, housing insecurity, and health issues. The Legion offers guidance on benefits and war disability schemes, and runs recovery and rehabilitation programmes at its Battleback Centre in the Midlands.
The cost-of-living crisis has intensified demand for the Legion’s services. In the past year alone, the organisation responded to thousands of urgent requests for financial assistance and awarded grants to more than 23,000 veterans and their families.
Volunteers interested in helping with this year’s appeal are encouraged to contact Angus Watson directly at awatson@britishlegion.org.uk or by phone at 07759 717932.
