UNION Market Closes Down
Shock for staff and customers as Broadway store goes into administration
UNION Market, Fulham's upmarket grocery store on the site of the former Fulham Broadway tube station, has closed down.
Rumours have been circulating for some time that the store had run into financial trouble just over 18 months after opening. Last week the venture went into administration, and it closed its doors to the public on Sunday, February 12 at 6pm.
The decision to shut down has shocked both its staff and local people, who have been voicing their reactions on Twitter.
beachcomberpage tweeted: " Very sad that only decent retailer in Fulham Broadway, Union Market, is closing down today! Staff obviously shocked."

UNION MARKET took over the tube station site, formarly home to T.G.I. Friday's to much local excitement as a brand new venture for the area promising " everything we love about the farmers' markets - fabulous choice, first-class provenance, inspired know-how and an opportunity to buy from traceable British growers and food suppliers - with the advantages of a supermarket - long operating hours, daily opening, a regular product range, free delivery and parking."
The store, with its own coffee shop and restaurant, was dedicated to the best of seasonal British food with wine and spirits, butcher, baker, cheese and fruit and vegetable as well as its own grocery and deli.
At the weekend however, the venture was at an end, with one member of staff blaming the closure on the high cost of renting the landmark site.
