North End Road Goes Traffic Free on Saturday for Summer Market

With over 150 stalls, international food, street entertainers and live music

As well as over 150 stalls on each side of the road, highlights include a Battle of the Bands contest, a jam-packed line-up of street entertainment and a chance to sample cuisines from all over the planet.

This summer, the street entertainment includes The Camel, the ten foot tall stilt-walking Sergeant Majors duo and Betty Balloon, who creates mesmerising balloon sculptures before your very eyes.

The Battle of the Bands contest, sponsored by the Ibis Hotel in Lillie Road, will run throughout the day with the winners being announced at 5pm.

There will also be the launch of a recipe book showcasing affordable dishes. This follows the success of the council's Rose voucher scheme, which helps local families access healthy food which they might not otherwise be able to afford.

As well as North End Road's regular market stalls, there will be an array of stalls selling arts and crafts, clothing, fashion accessories, a wide range of gifts produced by local independent traders and an international choice of food and drink.

The Summer Market is open on Saturday from 9am till 5pm.

North End Road Market

Working with the council to boost the market, North End Road Action Group (NERAG) is made up of residents, businesses, market traders, local organisations and the council with an aim of reviving North End Road as a thriving high street with the market at its core.

If you are interested in getting involved please email nerag@btconnect.com or call 020 8753 5695 for more information.

Becoming a trader at the market, either the regular daily market or one of the traffic free seasonal events, is simple - even if you have never done it before.

You can find all the information you need at the  North End Road market web page where you can  download a factsheet  about becoming a stall holder, a new traders' guide and an application form.
