Hurlingham Club Opens its Gates Today

Open day offers rare opportunity for public to visit

Fulham's exclusive Hurlingham Club opens its gates to visitors today, Tuesday May 10 from from 11am till 4pm.

There will be a guided tour at 2pm to the 42 acre club's extensive gardens, which include a two acre lake with water fowl, expansive lawns and a river walk.

The gardens are renowned for their roses, herbaceous and lakeside borders, shrubberies and bedding displays, while the riverbank is a haven for wildlife with native trees, shrubs and wild flowers.

The open day is part of the National Gardens Scheme; Gardens Open for Charity which publishes a Yellow Book, a guide to over 3,700 gardens around the country which welcome over half a million visitors each year and raise over £2 million for nursing, caring and gardening charities.

Entry costs £5 and light refreshments, teas and wine will be available. Access to the club is from the main gate at the east end of Ranelagh Gardens, a short walk from Putney Bridge tube station.
