Motorists and buses on diversion until Friday evening
Wandsworth Bridge Road has been closed to allow for emergency repairs by Thames Water, and is not scheduled to reopen until Friday evening.
H&F Council says that according to Thames Water, its works in the road have uncovered a major problem which means more works need to be done.
The Jambuster twitter feed at @JambusterLondon reports: "A217 Wandsworth Bridge Road (SW6) (Both directions) at the junction of Townmead Road - Temporary traffic signals in operation for Thames Water works. Expect delays on the approach."
Drivers are being advised to avoid the area and bus services 28, 295 and N28 are on diversion.
These problems follow reports of flooding following heavy rain last weekend, as shown by this photo taken by @garyfannin, who tweeted: " Wandsworth Bridge Road - SW6. Between no. 84 to 94. Blocked drains both sides. Road completely flooded. Danger of flooding to properties. "
