Trinity Hospice charity shop is undisputed winner
The Trinity Hospice charity shop has been announced as the winner of the first competition between shopkeepers on Fulham Road to produce the best dressed Christmas window.
Joint runners up were hairdresser Damian Martin and Studio Flowers, whose window has a magnificent silver wreath made composed of leaves collected on Eeel Brook Common.
Oliver Bonas were just a couple of votes behind to come in third.
The competition, which was keenly contested by over 20 traders in Fulham Road, attracted hundreds of votes from local shoppers, whose names were all entered into a prize draw.
The lucky winner was local artist Mrs Anthea Wodehouse, who frequently shops in Fulham Road and is a longtime customer of Artbeat, whose owner Jill Lee came up with the idea for the competition along with Serena Turle of the Parson's Nose.
Mrs Wodehouse was presented with her prize of a goodie bag filled with gifts and vouchers from all the shopkeepers involved over a celebratory glass of champagne at the newly refurbished Durell Arms pub.
She said: " I couldn't believe it when Jill told me I had won! I want to thank you all so much for this magnificent effort."
Fulham Town Centre Manager Nicki Burgess, who organised the competition, said: " We had hundreds of votes, a number of which were sent by email and made some lovely comments about individual businesses. Trinity Hospice were the undisputable winners with the most votes, it took simply ages to count them all!"
