Christmas Celebrations at Fulham Palace
Talks and tours, drop-in days for kids and a visit from Santa
Saturday 7th December is National Tree Dressing Day and Fulham Palace is holding a free craft session in Bishop’s Park from 10am to midday to make decorations for the trees in the park.
Other events at Fulham Palace over the Christmas period include a guided nature walk around the Fulham Palace gardens and Bishop’s Park with Brenna Boyle from Wild Capital. This is on Saturday 7th December at 12.15pm and is free.
Wednesday 11th December at 6pm is the second in our head gardener lecture series Sissinghurst: Portrait of a Garden with Alexis Datta, until recently the head gardener at Sissinghurst.
Our December garden walk is on Sunday 1st December and there are two historical tours of the Palace and grounds on Wednesday 4th and Sunday 8th December.
There is also Fulham Palace’s new winter exhibition The Famous and Historic Garden at Fulham Palace, which traces the development of the garden at the Palace, a residence of the Bishops of London for over one thousand years and a place of many gardening ‘firsts’ over the centuries. The exhibition, in the museum, includes archaeological finds from the museum’s collection along with items lent by Hammersmith and Fulham Archives, and from private collectors including the Whitehouse Collection, Cranborne Antiques and Amoret Tanner. The exhibition runs until April 23rd 2014.
The Drawing Room Café at Fulham Palace will be in festive mode from 1st December and will be offering turkey and cranberry toasties, mince pies and sticky ginger bread alongside its usual sandwiches, cakes and seasonal soups. At the weekends there will be mulled wine and on dark and chilly days, the open fire will be lit in the café. Fulham Palace has a wealth of things to see and do all year round, from exploring the museum that charts the Palace’s eventful history to having lunch in the Drawing Room Café followed by a walk through the Palace’s beautiful grounds, including the walled garden. Admission to the Palace and its grounds is free of charge (except for special tours and events). The Palace is available to hire as a stunning venue for weddings as well as private and corporate events.

The Famous and Historic Garden at Fulham Palace exhibition runs through to 23 April 2014. Open Saturday to Wednesday 1pm to 4pm. Closed 23-30 December and 18 April. Admission Free.
