Network Rail will be carrying out works on Fulham Road Bridge, on the border of Fulham and Chelsea from 7am till 7pm and say the works will include a traffic light controlled road closure and excavation of the carriageway to survey the bridge deck.
Overground and South Eastern trains will not run on the track below during these hours.
A Network Rail spokeswoman says: " These improvements are a vital aspect of our strategy to provide a safe, reliable and efficient railway fit for the 21st century.
"The equipment required to carry out works will mean some disturbance is unavoidable, but we will make every effort to minimise any unnecessary noise. Furthermore, those working on site are briefed on working responsibly in the local community.
"Safety is our number one priority and for this reason work of this type must be carried out when trains are not in operation. Under our licenced conditions, we are contractually obliged to work whenever possile, which includes improvements during the night and at weekends."
Network Rail apologise for any incovenience these essential works may cause and add that if you have any questions or concerns you can contact them by phoning the 24 hour helpline on 03457 11 41 41 or contacting them online .
There will also be disruption in the area on Saturday 22 February, with a home match at Stamford Bridge between Chelsea and Tottenham. This match has an early kick off at 12.30pm, which means this part of Fulham Road will be closed from late morning till mid-afternoon.
