Police Find Guns at Home Where Man Died

Shooting in Winchendon Road thought to be accident or suicide

They were called to the house in Winchendon Road between Fulham and Dawes Road after neighbours reported hearing a gun shot on Monday April 15 at around 5.30pm.

The body of a 55-year-old man was found inside his home. Police say enquiries into his death are ongoing but it is not suspicious and it is thought the man died as a result of suicide or a tragic accident.

During a search of the property, officers found the guns and ammunition, all of which were licensed to the man who died.

Speaking after the incident Chief inspector Rod Charles, said: "This is a very serious incident with a tragic outcome. However it is confined to a single residential address.

"At this time there is no evidence indicating third party involvement or crime. There is no known risk to neighbours or the wider community."

The Coroner has been informed and an inquest will be held in due course.
