Heatherley School of Fine Art joins the Big Draw

The Heatherley School of Fine Art in Lots Road, Chelsea is holding a free drawing event called The Scrapheap Challenge this Saturday, October 10 as part of the Big Draw.

Between 10am and 4pm, the school's tutors will be opening up the studios into a vast scrapheap in an attempt to build an indoor cityscape. Flitting in amongst the structure will be two " rubbish tip fairies" so that people taking part can also make studies of the figure in the urban environment.

Joining the challenge in the afternoon will be artist and long term Private Eye cartoonist, Barry Fantoni and former Heatherley's student Cherie Lunghi will also be participating.

At the end of the day, everyone's work will be compiled into a huge collage, creating a new landscape of its own.

The Scrapheap Challenge, part of the month long season of Big Draw events coordinated by the Campaign for Drawing, is open to anyone over the age of 18 and is completely free of charge. All materials will be included.
