Fulham's Big Festive Weekend

Let's get this party started!

Christmas begins in earnest this weekend with a series of seasonal events across Fulham offering three days of festive fun.

The party begins on Friday, December 4 with the switching on of the Christmas lights in Jerdan Place. As we reported earlier, this event will take place from 3.30pm till 7.30pm with Strictly Come Dancing champion Karen Hardy switching on the lights at 6pm.

Music will be provided by Abbalicious, the UK’s best Abba Tribute band, and Fulham Rock Choir, and there will be a gift market, lots of goodies including mince pies and mulled wine and Santa's grotto.

On Saturday, December 5, from 11am till 5pm, the action moves west for Christmas on Parson's Green. As well as a traditional market with 60 gift and food stalls, live reindeer will be grazing in Father Christmas’s Winter Wonderland, next to a Carousel and Ice Rink, complete with a Skating Snowman.

Other visitors include a Stilt-Walking Jack Frost and Snow Queen, while a festive Punch & Judy, Face-Painters and a Circus Workshop will keep the little ones entertained.  At dusk, the day will end with a candlelit carol service around the Christmas tree, accompanied by The Fulham Brass Band.

This Christmas event, organised by Pippa Popins' Nursery Schools is in aid of two children’s charities, the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at The Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, and the WellChild Charity.

December 5 and 6 also sees a Christmas Activity Weekend taking place at Fulham Palace Garden Centre.

Children's activities include a lucky dip, Christmas place mat making, face painting from 11am to 4pm and festive balloons. For adults there's mulled wine, mince pies, roasted chestnuts, pickle tasting and of course plenty of festive atmosphere.

Also on Sunday December 6 at 2pm, there is a fun Christmas decoration workshop for children aged five to 12, who can make decorations, garlands or cards for home and Christmas tree. Tickets for this event cost £5 each and booking is essential - book directly with Museum of Fulham Palace on 020 7610 7164.

Dont forget, as you are out and about in Fulham this weekend to check out the shop windows in Fulham Road, as the shopkeepers compete to win the prize for the best window of the season.
