Tesco's Fulham High Street Application Turned Down

Supermarket now considering its options

An application by Tesco to build a new supermarket on

Fulham High Street scheme has been refused.

The retailer has been working with developers Barton Finch

on plans for a High Street store, close to Putney Bridge, for some time.

Its most recent scheme, designed by architects Collado Collins, aimed to provided a mix of retail space, around 60 flats, parking and a rooftop meadow in a run down site to

the north of to All Saints Church.

James Wiggam, Corporate Affairs Manager for Tesco, told  West London property blog lookwest:  " We are disappointed with the decision.

" We have spent over four years working alongside Barton Finch on the scheme and have made substantial changes to the plans in response to consultation feedback.

" The site on Fulham High Street is currently derelict and unattractive. The plans would have brought much-needed investment to this part of the street and generated around 200 new jobs. We will be reviewing the decision notice before considering our options. "
