Local squads shown fighting crime on our streets
Hammersmith and Fulham police are among the local squads featured in the current series of hard hitting documentary Brit Cops on satellite channel Bravo.
The series, called Brit Cops: Zero Tolerance follows crime fighting teams in action on the streets. Tonight, April 15,
Bravo says local police can be seen tackling drunk women on the rampage, finding a New Zealander off his head on drugs and taking on a man covered in paint with his trousers round his ankles!
The teams also corner a man suspected of wielding a knife and take on a drink driver who has hit the central reservation.
Hammersmith and Fulham Police Borough Commander, Detective Chief Superintendent Kevin Hurley, says: " This programme shows just what local police officers are doing on the streets of Hammersmith and Fulham. They are doing what I believe the public want; arresting drug dealers, robbers and anti-social yobs and being professional and dignified in how they do it. "
Councillor Greg Smith, Cabinet Member for Crime & Street Scene, was filmed at the council’s recent Crime Summit for the show. He says: “ This programme graphically shows how the council is working with local police on a robust approach that has led to dramatic falls in crime locally. We are becoming safer and safer but this programme shows there is still more to do.”
Brit Cops airs on Bravo at 10pm every Wednesday for the next eight weeks.
