Sewer/Development/Hurlingham Wharf

It is possible for the Mayor of London not to block development of Hurlingham Wharf, if the proposals scintillate him. The Prince of Wales is helping us achieve exactly that result. If things go according to plan the Mayor will have no choice but to differ to our higher vision.

The emerging regeneration masterplan presented to the community this week was rather good. It needs some more work, some reductions in heights in places and details added, but generally speaking I think it has broken the mould of the many many failed modernist schemes along the river. Surely the Secretary of State for CLG has no power to prevent a council determining a planning application? I am very angry that he is trying!

The first priority is to get the Thames Tunnel built, and built on engineering principles, ie. with entry points in the right places to provide the service of handling sewage which is essential for the health of London.Without prejudicing the outcome of the Stage 2 consultation by Thames Water it seems very likely that the entry point of Carnwath Road will be retained. This means using Hurlingham Wharf for loading barges, which is an excellent use for this wharf. Any discussion about further development will can only be concerned with the period after 2022, which is rather a long time ahead.
