Mary Portas Urged to Attack the Clones
Dear shoppers,The answer lies in the choice which each of you makes, particularly when buying food. Spend your money at your local shops, or at least the smaller chains, NOT at Tescos, Sainsbury, Asda or any other of the large supermarket chains. I know that the local shops don't deliver, that you have to look in your fridge and cupboard to compile a shopping list and you have to think about what you really need, as opposed to wandering down an aisle (or your previous on-line list) pulling out the same products as you had before and some "bargains" because they are "on special offer". This is lazy shopping and you are being fleeced by the supermarkets. The apparent cornucopia of choice is illusory: their shelves are filled with lots of inferior "me-too" brands. If you look carefully you will always find good equivalent products in smaller shops, and they will often be of superior quality for the same price. We really need LESS, but BETTER choice.
