Take control of your own health and wellbeing
The NHS in Hammersmith and Fulham is making it easier for patients to take charge of their own health and wellbeing. Thanks to a new online health guide, patients will be able to map their own health treatment using a new tool called the ‘map of medicine’. Borough residents can look up their condition in the online guide to see what treatment they should be getting for their illness from their GP and the NHS. Patients who don’t think they’re getting the right treatment can ask their GP and the NHS to explain why their ‘map of medicine’ isn’t being followed. The aim of the scheme is to give people more control of their own health and treatment, and to make GPs more responsive to the wishes of their patients. The ‘map of medicine’ health guide is stored online at www.healthguides.mapofmedicine.com and is available 24/7. With different sections on different health conditions, the guide is a great way to see what the potential courses of treatment are. By giving residents more information about different treatment options, patients have a bigger say in how they’re treated.
