Guardian (Society!): Charing Cross hospital to be cut to 13% of current size, services diverted
In the Guardian Society page on Friday 16th June, there is confirmation of the plans which NHS senior officials have strenuously denied over the last 5 years. See https://www.theguardian.com/society/2017/jun/16/most-of-central-london-hospital-to-be-sold-off-secret-plans-reveal#img-1It gets worse: All NHS England "surplus" land (any land on which it is either impossible to run services because of the squeeze on current running expenditure or genuinely redundant land) is to be parcelled up into 6 regions and sold off as Public Private Partnership deals through European tendering arrangements to be completed by end June. See Health Service Journal: https://www.hsj.co.uk/topics/finance-and-efficiency/exclusive-private-deals-being-planned-to-release-naylor-billions/7018691.article#comments. The headline does not mention the plan's name: "Project Phoenix" but the article itself (paywall) does. See the website of CMS Legal Services, an international practice: http://www.cms-lawnow.com/ealerts/2017/05/project-phoenix-is-nhs-ppp-about-to-rise-from-the-ashes?cc_lang=enALL NHS England's land sold off. What?!!!!
