Thames Water says that the water supply to many areas of West London is being restored on Sunday evening, after many households had low pressure or no water at all for much of the day.

The company says " We're sorry to customers in the SW3, SW5, SW6, SW7, SW10, SW1W, W6 and W14 postcode areas who may be experiencing no water or low water pressure.

" Supplies to most of the area should now slowly begin to return, you may notice your pressure is lower than normal but this will begin to build up over a period of time.

" This is due to a failure at one of our sites. Our engineers are working hard restore pressure as soon as possible.

" We're sorry for any inconvenience caused. "
