Transport for London says that North End Road has reopened at lunchtime on Tuesday, with 28 and 391 buses returned to their normal routes following a fire this morning in a chicken shop opposite West Kensington tube station.

London Fire Brigade said that two people were rescued from a flat above the Chicken Cottage opposite the tube station which went on fire on Tuesday morning.

At 10.45am the brigade tweeted: " Firefighters have rescued a man & woman from the flats above the #chickenshop in West #Kensington - both have minor smoke inhalation. "

The brigade also tweeted: " The fire started in the restaurant's ducting (ventilation system) #Restaurant owners be warned - greasy ducting is a fire risk!"

The Fire Brigade were called to the fire on North End Road at 9.50am.

The brigade tweeted @LondonFire at around 10.10am:
" There are now 6 fire engines, 30 firefighters at the #chickenshop fire on North End Road, West #Kensington. "

The closure of North End Road at the junction with Talgarth Road caused traffic queues between Hammersmith Flyover and Earls Court throughout Tuesday morning.
