What's on in January at Fulham Palace
Archaeology, history, hazel coppicing and a stone age drop-in for kids
Fulham Palace starts 2016 with a programme of events for all ages, including history, archaeology, storytelling - and a stone age drop-in at the museum.
Here's what's on this new year:
Monday January 11, 2pm - 45 years of Archaeological Work at Fulham Palace
Learn about the rich archaeological remains discovered over the 45 years of excavations at our nationally important site. This talk is led by, Keith Whitehouse, Director of Excavations, Fulham Archaeological Rescue Group, and Phil Emery, Heritage Trustee, Fulham Palace Trust.

Saturday January 16, 10.30am-12.15pm -Young Archaeologists’ Club: Looking After Artefacts
Find out how to properly clean and care for artefacts, as well as package them for safe transport during the first session of our new YAC term. Following this we will use chocolate to test how successful our packaging methods are!

Saturday January 16, 2pm-4pm - Fulham Palace Youth Panel
Fulham Palace has started a Youth Panel! This is a chance to get involved in what happens at the Palace from exhibitions to archaeology digs, family events to conservation work.

Monday January 18, 2pm -The Story of the Tait Chapel
Curator Miranda Poliakoff tells the story of our Victorian Chapel and how it has been changed over time by various bishops and their wives. The foundation stone of the new Chapel, designed by William Butterfield, was laid 150 years ago on a snowy January morning by Craufurd Tait, the only son of Bishop Tait.

Tuesday January 5, Tuesday January 26, 2pm-2.30pm - Palace Stories
Hear the Palace’s history brought to life in these tales of the characters who lived here and stories inspired by our beautiful surroundings. Free, no booking necessary. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Sunday January 31, 2pm-3.30pm - Museum Drop-in
During this Stone Age themed family drop-in, try on period costume, handle artefacts and learn about the history of Fulham Palace.
