Men's grooming salon Drakes of London in Fulham's Jerdan Place has told customers it hopes to reopen soon after a fire in the premises on Tuesday.

Drakes, at 19 Jerdan Place next to Marks and Spencer and just off Fulham Broadway, says on its website: "We are sorry to inform you that we are currently closed due to a fire at our premises.

" We will be back open soon. We apologise for any inconvenience and are working to open up as soon as possible."

Four fire engines and around 20 firefighters tackled a fire at the salon on early yesterday morning, Tuesday August 5.

Part of the ground floor, including treatment rooms was damaged by fire. There were no reports of any injuries.

The Fire Brigade says it was called at 4.57am and the fire was brought under control at 5.39am, and crews remained at the scene afterwards damping down small pockets of fire.

Firefighters from Kensington, Chelsea, Hammersmith and Fulham fire stations attended the incident.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
