Five adults and a baby had a lucky escape after fire broke out in a shop below their flat in North End Road early on the morning of Saturday July 19.

London Fire Brigade say 21 firefighters and officers were called to the fire, in a shop with flats above at 4.20am.

The ground floor of the building was slightly damaged and the residents managed to escape before the Brigade arrived. They were all suffering from smoke inhalation and treated at the scene by London Ambulance Service.

Firefighters from Chelsea, Fulham, Kensington and Wandsworth fire stations attended the incident, alongside local police officers and the brigade says the fire was under control in just over an hour, at 5.32am, with all the residents safe.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.
